Northern California Veterinary MRC ( 362 )

Formed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. We have been witness first hand what can happen when there is no one to address medical care for animals. Our staff helped to rescue over 200 pets working along side V.M.A.T ,H.S.U.S and other rescues organizations. Our housing organization (ANIMAL Medical Emergency Response System ) (A.M.E.R.S) sent two medical teams along with two ambulance units. 1 C.C.T (Critical Care Unit) and 1 Trauma Unit .Our CCT Unit was used by VMAT to handle minor surgical Procedures (all our units have on board generators and oxygen services ) Our trauma unit was used for rapid extrication and transport by teams in the field. We also created mobile field triage stations. This knowledge was the catalyst that led to the formation of the Northern California Medical Reserve corps. It is our sincere desire that should another event of the magnitude that occurred in New Orleans befall our state that we will be ready to provide assistance , and work alongside any and all MRC’s , as well as other agencies from local, state to the federal level. We are available to all that require our assistance.
