Chittenden County Medical Reserve Corp ( 2541 )

Profile:
Chittenden County is the most populous county in Vermont, with an estimated population of 158,504. Our county includes both urban and rural areas, and is spread over 564 square miles. The Chittenden County Medical Reserve Corp was formed in order to serve our county in the following ways: - To assist in the response during a public health emergency, such as an epidemic or medical surge emergency. - To perform public health outreach and education about Emergency Preparedness The Steering Committee of the Chittenden County MRC consists of representatives from Chittenden County Regional Planning Agency, University of Vermont Medical Center- our local hospital, the VT Department of Health, the Champlain Valley Area Agency on Aging, and the nursing program of Vermont Technical College. There is also a Steering Committee member who is a freelance writer who focuses on healthcare issues. The Chittenden County MRC is limiting recruitment to health and medical personnel, and individuals with public health experience. Our plan is to coordinate with the Chittenden County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) for training, exercises, and emergency response in order to maximize our knowledge and resources with this group of non-medical volunteers.
